These colourful fruit gummies are a fun way to get gelatin into the diet. They are a much healthier alternative to commercial gummy bears and lollies that usually contain artificial flavours, colours and often lots of sugar in the form of glucose syrup.
Here we have used mango, raspberry and blueberry frozen fruit to provide the sweetness, although a small amount of honey could also be used.

✓ Gelatin
Gelatin is a collagen derivative and is high in protein containing 18 amino acids and being especially rich in glycine, alanine and proline. We need protein for building and repairing cells and tissues. Plus for healthy growth, development, immune function and the list could go on.
Although I most like using gelatin as it may have a protective effect on the gut barrier. Maintaining a healthy gut barrier is important for immune health and managing inflammation within the gut. When the gut barrier is impaired we find that contents that should remain in the gut like bacteria, pathogens, food particles and toxins can pass into the bloodstream and can result in immune system activation and inflammation. We are also seeing some studies are starting to link gut barrier dysfunction with a number of digestive disorders and complaints like irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), inflammatory bowel disease, small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO), allergies, asthma and food intolerances. Description
These kids fruit gummies are a fun way to get gelatin into the diet and are a delicious alternative to commercial gummy bears and lollies that usually contain artificial flavours, colours and often lots of sugar in the form of glucose syrup.
Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons of gelatin
- 1 cup of blueberries
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbs honey (optional)
- 4 tablespoons of gelatin
- 1 cup of raspberries
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbs honey (optional)
- 4 tablespoons of gelatin
- 1 cup of mango
- 1 lemon, juiced
- 1/4 cup water
- 2 tbs honey (optional)
Instructions
- Heat your chosen fruit, lemon juice, water and honey (optional) over medium heat in a saucepan.
- Once bubbling, turn to a low heat and add in the gelatin and whisk well until the gelatin has disolved and liquid mixture is smooth. Rather than whisk on the stovetop you could also blitz in a blender or with a hand held kitchen stick – especially helpful if your mixture is lumpy and you are struggling to combine.
- Once you have a smooth liquid mixture, place the mixture in to the moulds using a liquid dropper.
- Set in the fridge for an hour.
- Remove the gummies from the moulds, transfer into an airtight jar and store in the fridge for up to a week.
